Just received from India, perhaps the rarest and most colorful quartz on Earth. First described by C.V. Raman (Raman Spectroscopy founder)in the Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences, May 1950, and then in Gems and Gemology in 1988. This "Rainbow Quartz" is found as crystal lined geodes and void fillings in basalts in India. Polysynthetic twinning causes individual crystals to display iridescence or colors underneath the minor rhombohedrons. Check our Quartz section for available specimens.
